Christine Ashton joined Wilson Vukelich LLP in 2009 as an associate in its litigation group. Her practice focuses on employment and labour law, tax litigation, and related litigation. Christine has represented clients before various courts and tribunals, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Small Claims Court, and the Ontario Court of Justice.
Prior to joining Wilson Vukelich, Christine articled with the Legal Services Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Labour. During that time she conducted numerous trials involving Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) charges. Christine has also appeared before the Ontario Labour Relations Board in several administrative appeals relating to OHSA and Employment Standards Act, 2000 matters. During her articles with the Ministry of Labour, Christine served on the Association of the Law Officers of the Crown's Board of Directors.
During law school, Christine competed in the 2007 Mathews Dinsdale & Clark Canadian Labour Arbitration. She also worked at the Community and Legal Aid Services Programme (CLASP), serving as a Division Leader in the Workers' Rights and Community Support Divisions. Christine continues to be involved in promoting knowledge of the law, which has included acting as the Legal Advisor for Bayview Secondary School in the 2010 and 2011 Ontario Bar Association Secondary School Mock Trial Competition.
Christine currently sits on the executive of the Ontario Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division. Christine was the co-chair of the Tax Litigation Essentials 2011 program at the OBA.
When she isn't practising law, Christine enjoys travelling. She has been on trips to Ireland, England, France, Italy, Egypt, Belize, the Grand Caymans, several Greek Islands, and the Galapagos Islands.
