Employer Webinar Series: Handling Leaves of Absence and the Duty to Accommodate – November 5, 2020
November 5 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
You are invited to attend an online training session on leaves of absence and accommodation. This is practical employer training where we will look at how to handle leaves of absence and accommodation requests, and pitfalls which should be avoided.
When an employee advises that they require accommodation in the workplace or to be placed on sick leave, employers are entering a potential minefield. It is important that employers take the proper steps to ensure that they understand the request, that the request is properly made, and that the request is properly considered. If an employer fails to take these steps, they can find themselves facing a human rights complaint, a Ministry of Labour complaint, and/or a civil claim.
To assist supervisors, managers, and HR staff in regards to employee accommodation and sick leaves, Wilson Vukelich LLP is providing a training session.
At the training session you will learn about:
• how to properly handle accommodations and sick leave requests;
• how to properly investigate whether accommodation or a leave is required and continues to be required; and
• how to avoid a human rights complaint, a Ministry of Labour complaint, and a civil action,
